Besides working full time for the Soil Conservation Service, Bill and his wife Ileene had a small dairy operation outside of Deckerville. Bill had a great many friends in Sanilac County through his work in the Sandusky office.

He enjoyed very much to help farmers to correctly tile drain their fields, dig or clean out a drain, or install a farm pond, or generally help farmer be good stewards of the soil and watersheds of the county. He had a great love for the farmland and watersheds of Sanilac County. Merriman worked for the United States Soil Conservation Service for 40+ years as a Soil Service Technician. She preceded in death on January 30, 2009. He was born Februin Deckerville the son of the late Oscar and Amy (Fair) Merriman. Detailed ViewīILL (WILLIS) MERRIMAN DECKERVILLE Bill (Willis) Merriman, age 83, passed away on Tuesday Apin the Deckerville Community Hospital after a short illness. Arrangements made by Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette, MI. Memorials may be donated to Lapeer County Medical Care Facility (Suncrest) or to the family. Burial has taken place at the Marlette Cemetery. Funeral services were held at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with son Pastor John Larkin officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Sarah Moyer, husband John Larkin and sister Ruby Wells. She is survived by three sons John (Carol) Larkin of Jackson, Rick Larkin of Lapeer and Rod (Danette) Larkin of Lapeer, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed music, playing the organ, fishing and going to the cabin in Grayling. Beula also worked with her husband John as an Independent Shaklee Business Owner for several years in Marlette before retiring to live in Vermilion, OH. She also worked as a sales clerk at the former Ray's Mens Wear in Marlette. Beula was very active in the work at Bethel church serving as Choir Director, Head of Nursery, Organist and the various women s group organizations of the church. Prior to living in Vermilion, Beula lived in Marlette, where her husband John Pastored the Bethel Church for 18 years. Beula has been living in Lapeer the past 6 years and previously in Vermilion, Ohio. He has preceded her in death on January 6, 2006. She was born Septemin Erie, Pennsylvania daughter to the late Warren and Sarah Zepernick Moyer. Larkin, age 90, of Lapeer went home to be with the Lord Monday, Apat Lapeer Regional Hospital in Lapeer.
